I am a terrible bike commuter this week. so far, I have not ridden at all. Granted, it rained M-W, but yesterday and today were lovely days to ride. did i? NO. For various (and sucky) reasons: woke up late, no breakfast, couldn't find gloves, blah, blah, blah.
next week I am going to try to be back on the wagon (saddle?). Today we have an end of the year party and I plan to ride there, since it is only a mile from my house.
Does this happen to you? Hit a commuting wall?

Nope, you're not. I'm extremely good at making up excuses for not riding. Nice to see another Southern girl blogging about biking to work! I have a lot of friends in the B'ham area and I know it's not exactly bike-friendly.
ReplyDeletei am forever coming with incredible reasons not to ride.
ReplyDeleteNothing happens overnight. Though im sure there are people that are great at deciding on something and going for it with no problems. For the rest of us we tend to procrastinate, make excuses, or just simply get lazy or give up. Remember it typicaly takes 21 days of consistantly doing for it to stick and become habit! Dont bum yourself out over it :D
ReplyDeleteHi - I'm a regular bike commuter (been doing it since the mid-1980's), and found it helps to have an area set up to hold all your biking stuff (be it a table or closet, etc.). It saves time when you are about to head out the door. Also, I get my work clothes out the night before, and make and pack most of my lunch (except for the sandwich). So all I have to do is get dressed, eat breakfast, and make my sandwich, and I'm ready to go. It helps to not have to THINK first thing in the morning! :) You get a routine and then stick with it. I also listen to the weather report the night before and the morning of riding, so I know what to wear on my ride and try to be prepared, since weather changes quickly. Don't want to be unprepared in WINTER weather (I live in Washington DC area). Good luck in your commute - great the news channel did a spot on ya! :)
